Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a premier central university located in New Delhi, India. Established in 1920 in Aligarh and later moved to its present campus in Okhla, New Delhi, in 1925, it attained the status of a Central University by an Act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. The university was founded by nationalist Muslim leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, with the aim of providing education that was not aligned with British colonial policies, fostering national integration, and promoting social justice.
