• Supervision: Each student is assigned a primary and secondary supervisor who provide expert guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the research journey.
• Training and Development: Access to a wide range of training courses in research methods, statistical analysis, academic writing, presentation skills, and other transferable skills offered by LSHTM and the Bloomsbury Doctoral Training Partnership.
• Seminars and Conferences: Active participation in departmental seminars, research groups, and national/international conferences to present research findings and engage with the wider academic community.
• Annual Review: Regular progress reviews to ensure research is on track and to provide opportunities for feedback and strategic planning.
• Viva Voce Examination: The degree culminates in a viva voce (oral examination) where the candidate defends their thesis before a panel of examiners.

• A Master's degree in a relevant subject, or an equivalent qualification and/or professional experience.
• A strong academic record, typically a UK 2:1 honours degree or equivalent.
• A well-developed and viable research proposal, outlining the proposed area of study, methodology, and expected outcomes.
• Evidence of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS Academic with an overall score of at least 7.0, with a minimum of 6.5 in each sub-test, or equivalent).
• Two academic references.
• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume.
• A personal statement outlining motivations, research interests, and career aspirations.
