The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at San Jose State University (SJSU) is designed to cultivate future leaders in public health practice, research, and education. Fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the program provides a robust and interdisciplinary curriculum that addresses complex public health challenges, with a particular focus on serving the diverse communities of the Bay Area and beyond.
Students in the program develop advanced competencies across the core public health disciplines, including biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health policy and management, and social and behavioral sciences. The curriculum emphasizes a comprehensive approach to understanding health determinants, disparities, and effective intervention strategies.
The SJSU MPH program prepares professionals to design, implement, and evaluate public health initiatives, advocate for health equity, and contribute to the scientific evidence base through rigorous coursework, practical experiences like the required practicum, and a culminating experience such as a thesis or project.
